Meet Josie
Josie, a 52-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, came to Jasper following a recurrence of breast cancer. As someone who prefers to keep to herself, she wasn’t comfortable pursuing a support group. Jasper’s at-home, 1-on-1 care felt more accessible, and would provide her with the expertise she was looking for. Josie was matched with Lindsey and first sought support to address treatment-related fatigue. As she built trust with Lindsey over time, Josie became more comfortable opening up and their weekly calls began to focus on her emotional needs.
“After a few months, the conversations turned from resources to being about me. I started opening up more, as a lot of trust had been built up.”
How Jasper helped
Once Josie began exploring her emotions with Lindsey, her experience with treatment became easier and her attitude toward her diagnosis changed:
“Once I started talking about my feelings, not just the information that I was asking about, my journey changed. Something lifted off my shoulders and it became easier for me. Instead of letting cancer walk me through my life, I started walking ahead of my cancer.”
Thanks to her work with Jasper, and specifically the emotional support Lindsey provided, Josie has been able to approach treatment with more confidence.
“The medical help that I’m getting from my oncology team is incredible. I don’t just sit there quietly anymore—I ask a lot more questions, and I believe that the journey with Jasper is why. I have a new strength and a new confidence in myself that I know is going to get me through the next part of this journey.”
