Survivorship

Your experience with cancer has changed you significantly. We’ll help you reacclimate to “normal” life, build habits to support long-term health, and process everything you’ve been through.

You are more than your cancer. Jasper helps you feel more like yourself.

“I’m glad to be done with treatment, but getting back into my old routine is also hard.”

“I’m having lingering side effects from treatment that I didn’t expect.”

“Every ache and pain I have feels like it might be cancer again.”

What we help with

  • Creating a roadmap for long-term health and well-being
  • Incorporating physical activity back into your routine
  • Managing anxiety about upcoming scans
  • Navigating difficult conversations with friends and family
  • Adjusting to life after treatment
  • Accessing support groups for cancer survivors
  • Monitoring and managing long-term side effects

What to expect in your first Jasper session

Meet Your Counselor

During your first session, your counselor will spend time getting to know you, what your life looks like, and where you need the most support. More than anything, your counselor’s main goal is to help ease the burden of having to figure everything out on your own.

Discuss Your Experience with Cancer

Understanding your experience of receiving a cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment informs how we’ll support you:

  • How were you diagnosed?
  • Did it take a significant amount of time to get an accurate diagnosis?
  • What did treatment look like for you?
  • How are you processing the aftermath of your diagnosis and treatment?

Talk About Your Support System

We’ll spend some time exploring what your support network looks like:

  • Who are the members of your support system?
  • How do you feel about attending a support group?
  • How have your relationships changed since transitioning into life after treatment?
  • How have your relationships changed since transitioning into survivorship?

Identify Your Challenges

We’ll talk through what you’re finding most challenging right now, with the knowledge that this will likely change over time:

  • How has your journey with cancer and completing treatment impacted your perspective on life?
  • Have you returned to work? If so, how are you coping with work and home life?
  • Do you have any questions about your survivorship care plan?
  • Are you experiencing any late stage or long term side effects?

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Jasper define survivorship?

Our support for people at the survivorship stage is centered on reacclimating to “normal” life. This typically means that the person is in remission and has no evidence of disease, as determined by their clinical team.

For how long after treatment will I be eligible for support through Jasper?

Anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis in the past, whether it was three years ago or 30 years ago, is eligible for in-network support through Jasper.

What type of care does Jasper offer?

Jasper specializes in supportive care, which focuses on everything that happens outside of your clinical appointments. Jasper’s care counselors help you with pain management, nutritional guidance, social support, preparing for appointments, understanding treatment options, and more at every stage of cancer treatment, from newly diagnosed to survivorship.

How is Jasper different from my clinical care?

Jasper does not replace advice or treatment from your clinical team. Jasper’s counselors support you through the emotional, mental, and physical challenges of cancer, but do not make clinical recommendations.

While your clinical team focuses on your diagnosis and treatment, Jasper helps you access quality care, vetted resources, and feel more in control.

Are all your services virtual?

Yes. Jasper sessions take place virtually via video call, phone call, or online chat.

What will I work on with my Jasper counselor?

It’s up to you! Together, you’ll create a care plan tailored to your needs at any given moment. While we use your treatment stage as a jumping off point, you can ask your counselor for support with anything that feels important, like managing long-term effects, processing your cancer experience, getting back into a healthy routine, or preparing for an upcoming scan.

Who is eligible for Jasper’s services?

Jasper is available in most states and is covered by select insurance plans. Check your eligibility here or call us at (929) 552-3904 with questions.

How much does Jasper cost?

Jasper is designed to be little to no cost. Pricing varies according to insurance coverage or can be accessed at $30/session if your insurance does not cover Jasper’s services. The cost of your care may also be covered by grant funding from one of Jasper’s 90+ community and industry partners.
